In the mid-1990s, Daniel purchased a lakeside property with a struggling lawn. When a neighbor informed him about a by-law prohibiting chemical fertilizers and recommended compost instead, Daniel gave it a try. After aerating, reseeding, and spreading compost by hand, the results were extraordinary — within weeks, the lawn was lush and healthy.
This experience sparked his curiosity and passion for top dressing, ultimately leading him to found Ecolawn in 1994. Driven by innovation and environmental responsibility, Daniel set out to make lawn care simpler, greener, and more sustainable.
Jérôme joined Ecolawn in 2017 and became part-owner in 2021. His connection to the outdoors began in childhood, where exploring nature came more naturally than staying indoors. His first job in a garden center further deepened his knowledge of plants and landscaping, while shaping his belief that outdoor spaces should be enhanced without compromising their natural balance.
Beyond landscapes, Jérôme is passionate about people. His curiosity, empathy, and background in Business Administration allow him to connect deeply with customers, partners, and colleagues. For him, Ecolawn represents the perfect union of professional expertise and a lifelong love of nature.
Daniel’s early experiments with compost showed not only the visible benefits of a greener, denser lawn but also the hidden ones: healthier soil, improved water retention, and natural resistance to weeds and pests. Neighbors soon asked for his help, revealing a clear need for eco-friendly lawn care services.
Motivated by customer demand and his own drive to innovate, Daniel officially launched Ecolawn in 1994. That first summer, he completed twenty top dressings for environmentally conscious homeowners, municipalities, and businesses. His vision was to create healthier landscapes while reducing reliance on chemicals.
Initially relying only on a shovel, Daniel quickly recognized the limitations of manual work. When no suitable equipment existed, he designed his own applicator — a simple, reliable machine that spread compost efficiently. This invention became the foundation of Ecolawn Applicator, transforming how top dressing was performed.
Since then, Ecolawn has helped landscapers and property owners embrace eco-friendly lawn care solutions. With restrictions on synthetic fertilizers and chemicals increasing, Ecolawn’s innovations continue to support the growing demand for sustainable landscaping practices.
